What are you looking forward to?

I don't mean the coming of spring or the start of baseball season, but rather is there an album set or possibly set for release in 2006 that you are looking forward to? Hard rock or metal would be preferred, but you can pick an album from a different style if you are really looking forward to it. Let's see Queensryche are set to release Mindcrime 2 in a few weeks, Celtic Frost have a long awaited album due out in May, Voivod are set to release an album soon, Black Label Society will have their first album on their new label, possibly G-n-R's Chinese Democracy will be released (hehehe) and Metallica could have an album out late this year (or early 2007). Or maybe there is another album I have not mentioned that you are looking forward to.

As for me, I am kind of looking forward to Trouble's reunion album and maybe I am the only one, but I am hoping it will be good. Mastodon are entering the studio to record their major label debut, but I am not sure if that will be out this year or not. If it is then I am looking forward to that as well.

What are you looking forward to?

  1. Queensryche, of course, and Tool's new release in May.

  2. As I've sadi before, I'm both looking forward to and dreading Chinese Democracy. Other that may come out this year that have me excited:

-- A Genesis reunion, with the classic lineup including Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett. My fear: The boys will borrow too much from the pop-schlock Genesis of the 80s/90s.

-- A new Rush album, which is due but I haven't heard much press about. My fear: The band will begin taking more time between studio albums and not release a new one this year.

-- Iron Maiden. Again, I haven't heard of a new one, but they are about due ... and I was pleasantly surprised by the last release so I'm optimisitic. My fear: They refuse to get along and never perform together again.

  3. Bruce-Only weeks now until Queensryche comes out.

David-Maiden are doing a fair amount of touring soon so I don't know that an album will get done this year or not. It would be nice because I definitely liked the last two albums.

Ben-I don't buy that many new cds anymore due to cash. I do go through the bargain bins and ebay fairly often.

Fred-I have a friend who heard an advance copy of Celtic Frost and he says it's good, we'll see.

  4. Hey! Does anyone know if there's a new Enya CD due out anytime soon?! Just kidding!!! If you want to know what's worse than a Metal Mark drinking straight from the milk jug when he has a bad cold, please read my latest post!

  5. I don't always drink straight from the milk jug, only when I am in a hurry.

  8. The Genesis story continues to evolve. A couple of months back, both Phil Collins and Steve Hackett commented about discussions to get a reunion together, and just last weekend some British tabloids announced that there might be a press conference this week about the classic lineup reuniting for an album and tour.

That seems to have jumped the gun. Genesis fans sources are reporting that Genesis management just said there are no plans for a Genesis reunion in 2006.

I do think that it will happen, I just hope it's before Peter loses his voice, Steve's fingers tighen up, and Phil forgets that he was a first-class drummer before becoming a second-class singer of schmaltz.

  13. Strutter-Sure hope it's better than his Kiss solo album(yuck). I think I read that he finished it like six months ago, but was having trouble finding a label to release it.

  16. I think Ace's Kiss solo album was the only one I liked.

  17. I'm curious to see what the "Supergroup" featuring Sebastian Bach and Ted Nugent will come up with. Not really looking forward to Gn'R after I hated the leaked tracks so much. Queensryche should be interesting - I actually haven't listened to them since the early '90s. Also, I think the singer from the Darkness has a solo album due at some point (does that count?).

  18. My unrequested opinion: Ace's album was better than the other three combined.

    Times 10.

That said, I can agree that Paul's was the least worst of the remaining three.
