The big turkey

As Thanksgiving approaches it's time to think of something concerning this great holiday. No, not what to give thanks for, but rather about turkey. This year I decided to reflect upon the year and decide who was the biggest turkey of the year so far. At first I considered Queensryche for doing their Operation Mindcrime 2 because it was an obvious cash-in and not a very good album. However they generally have received positive reviews for the live shows supporting the tour. So they are at least giving their fans what they want live so I tried to think of someone else. I immediately thought of an obvious target of one Axl Rose. Okay they are playing shows for the first time is years which is something. However he once again promised an album and once again it's not out. Yes, he played most of the shows that his band has been scheduled, but he's 44 years old and still acting like he's a spoiled rock star. Yes, other people have done that when they are older too. However Axl has done nothing in well over ten years and nothing worthwhile in 15 years. It's a slap in the face to hard working musicians for this joker to emerge from his abode and suddenly expect us to care. So Axl, here's your big turkey award for 2006.

***Who do you choose?

    Michael Kiske.
He has once again proven he is a real mental case, he insults every Metal fan every chance he gets. At the same time, all he wants is CASH. He even plans to re-release the first Helloween albums. A human-sized turkey award to him.

I would go with Axl as the biggest turkey. He is just ridiculous at this point with his non-existant album.

Yes, I would have to go with Axl too...I mean, come on...how many years have they been saying Chinese Democracy is coming out "soon"...how many different members of the band has he gone through... and we are supposed to somehow still CARE about G&R...once Slash and Duff left, it was no longer G&R, but an Axl Rose solo album...it's sad... I remember seeing them live back in the day, they opened for Motley Crue on the Girls, Girls, Girls tour...saw them the first show of a two-day stint in Atlanta, the next day, Axl jumped off the stage and got it a fight with a cop or something and was banned from Atlanta after that...should have known something was not quite right with him then...

  4. I would have stuck with Queensryche. They should have called it Operation: Fancrime.

  6. I saw Queensryche this summer and it really wasn't a bad show. They did entertain. I'm going to agree with you on Axl Rose.

  7. Can you make a turkey out of MeatLoaf? Bat out of Hell 3...is he serious??

I know he's not metal, but he's still a turkey.

  9. at the risk of incurring the wrath from the darker side of metal, Jon Nodtveidt of Dissection for releasing his first album out of prison, coupled by an amazing DVD, only to announce the immediate end of the band followed by his own suicide....not even Axl's career suicide can top that

  10. Good choice. The only other one I can mention is DLR for going back to Van Halen for the tour next year (if it actually comes off).

Hey, Dave--don't ruin our memories of the great odl days any more. Just shut up and don't ever go near Eddie again.

    Ever.
