My work was called off today due to the ice storm we are getting. So I did what anyone who is off from work does. That's right, I put football helmets on my daughter and here stuffed animals and then I took their picture.
Okay, maybe it just obsessive football fans who can't get over the season being finished that would do this. I do that think my daughter is beginning to understand that her crazy father's love for metal, football, Star Trek and other things though.
I am off as well...I tried to go in and spun out, even with a four wheel drive truck. Considering I slid off the road earlier and banged up my truck, I waited it out and it turned out that nobody showed up at the office. Really weird weather here.
ReplyDeleteMetalgirl looks great in a helmet and her cheering section is even better.
Dam Mark can you make the photo any bigger LOL
ReplyDeleteShe is a cutie, and I am glad to see her toys are so responsible. ;)
Mark, all good points there and I agree with them mostly. Heavy Music has never died for me though, and I saw that alot of underground metal gained alot of popularity through the 90s... still going strong where I come from... Heavier stuff though ranging into Death, Grind, Thrash, Mathcore etc... I think it all stems from the metal roots though, sabbath, blue cheer and all... there are connections in alot of music.
ReplyDeleteMy main opinion about the fall of heavy metal after 80s and then early 90s, was of course Grunge gaining popularity with all the bands from Seattle (I liked them too though), BUT--you cannot forget the sudden slam of boy bands and bubble gum pop that came along and threw up all over everyone too... I think it played a part.
Where's the Cowboys helmet???
ReplyDeleteCute picture!
I was home with the little girl today too. We watched some Cinderella, played with some Play Doh and ran around in the snow. All and all a good day.
ReplyDeletegrunge killed metal. But there still are true metal bands that have been playing since that time, opening acts for aerosmith maybe - like some friends of mine, but i think the tide has just turned and that era of music is over.
ReplyDeleteNow all music is repaced by studio enhanced barbie dolls. Video killed the radio star....
She has that "Help ! My dad is a loon" look on her face I see :)
