Remember those tests in school that had you fill in the blanks? Well, the good news with the ones I am asking is that there is no right answer. So here you go, fill in the blanks.

4)The most underrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is___________________.

1. THE ONLY SINGER FOR VAN HALEN WAS DAVID LEE ROTH!!!!!
ReplyDelete2. The Black Album
3. that's a toss up between "Van Hagar" and Nirvana...a bunch of my metal friends got into them back in the day, but I just never got it...
4. BADLANDS!!!! Without a doubt!!!!!
5. Uhhhh...when Hell Freezes Over??? :)
1.I like Sammy Hagar and then Roth.
ReplyDelete3. WhiteSnake. With out Tawny Kitaen they would have been nothing.
5. I hate Axel Rose too much to care.
1. Daimond Dave!
ReplyDelete2. Master of Puppets
3. KISS
4. Junkyard. They had two stellar albums and then disappeared...they should hvae been HUGE.
5. hell freezes over... Guns n who??? ;)
1. I agree wholeheartedly with Robert Ethier here--Van Halen ended when Roth left.
ReplyDelete2. Black Album was good, but even better was Ride the Lightning.
3-5: I'll have to think of this... and I didn't know #5

ReplyDelete1. David Lee Roth, the one and only!
ReplyDelete2. The Black Album
3. Pantera (IMO, all they did was update the Metallica sound, nothing as groundbreaking or inspirational as, say, Judas Priest, Maiden, etc.)
4. Raven (I know they let everybody down with "Stay Hard and "The Pack is Back", but a band this powerful shouldn't be dissed after only two disappointing albums)
On a second thought, I would say that every band from the NWOBHM, apart from Maiden, Leppard and maybe Saxon was kind of underrated in their time: Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Satan, Witchfinder General, Venom (they’re like those village idiots that accidentally discover something pivotal without knowing it)…
5. Stanley Kubrick comes back from the dead and shoots "2001 part II: HAL's Revenge!"
1. David Lee Roth
ReplyDelete2. The Black Album
3. Metallica
4. Riot
5. When Barack Obama gets elected president.....
1 - David Lee Roth , I never cared for Sammy
ReplyDelete2- And Justice For All .. The black album wasn't bad, but I consider it the sellout period.
3 - I'm going to say LA Guns I never cared for them.
4- Prog. Rock/metallers Eternity X they never got their due, but relesed 3 great albums
5. Within the year, but as the title of another greatest hits album.
1-Diamond Dave
ReplyDelete2-Master of puppets
3-Guns and Roses: Appetite was great and Use your illusions could have been very good had the best songs been on one album. That's it and they have done nothing in 14 years yet they still make headlines.
4-Armored Saint
5-Axl grows up (i.e.-Not any time soon.)
(1) The best singer for Van Halen was DLR. No contest.
ReplyDelete(2 )The last really good album Metallica did was the Black Album. Sure, it sucked by Metallica's standards. What wouldn't? But it was a good hard rock album, no doubt, no matter how much we hated it at the time for not being as good as we all knew Metallica could be.
The last GREAT Metallica album was Master of Puppets.
(3) The most overrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is Motley Crue. I love the band in many ways, but let's admit it--there wasn't a single album that was good all the way through, and most of their releases only had a few really good cuts.
(4) The most underrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is Tesla. The frist three studio albums were some of the best straightforward hard rock of time.
(5) Guns and Roses will release Chinese Democracy this year. Yes, I'm serious.

1. Sammy was good, but Roth is the best singer.
ReplyDelete2. "........and Justice for All"
3. I may catch some crap for this , but Aerosmith.
4. Cinderella
5. Axel is dead and gone 10 years.
1. DLR
ReplyDelete2. Black album
3. Accept; they were a one trick pony
4. Tool; why they don't get more love is beyond me.
5. Ya know what? I really don't care if it ever comes out. I'm not planning on buying it anyway.
1)The best singer for Van Halen was HAGAR.
ReplyDelete2)The last really good album Metallica did was ...AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.
3)The most overrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is KISS
4)The most underrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is CINDERELLA.
5)Guns and Roses will release Chinese Democracy NEVER.
1. Sammy
ReplyDelete2. And Justice For All...
3. Aerosmith
4. Faith No More
5. Never
1. David Lee Roth
ReplyDelete2. Black
3. None of the above.
4. Kix (there are so many!)
5. When Pigs Fly!
1. David Lee Roth bar none.
ReplyDelete2. S&M
3. Pink Floyd. I just don't get how barking fucking dogs are musical.
4.I am going to agree with craig. Faith No More was way ahead of their time.
5. When monkeys fly out of Axl's ass.
VH - Roth
ReplyDeleteMetallica - Master of Puppets
Overrated - Limp Bizkit
Underrated - I'll hop aboard the Faith No More wagon...it's so very, very true
Chinese Democracy comes out when Axl Rose decides that music is more important than basketball games, the loser
1)Gosh , the only
ReplyDeleteVH singer I know was Eddie.
2)The only Metallica album I own is S&M
3)Nirvana cant really be classed as HM.
I will say they are all over rated ;)
4)See above
5)When Axl needs a bit of cash to buy another facelift.
1. David Lee Roth
ReplyDelete2. The Black Album
3. I like them, but for quality of music compared to hype I will go with KISS.
4. I agree with Robert...Badlands were an awesome band...hence my name, Ray Gillen, RIP!
5 When Axl's cornrows are ready for harvesting.
1. David Lee Roth
ReplyDelete2. The black album
3. Van Halen, Anthrax, Bon Jovi
4. Cinderella, Faith No More, Suicidal Tendencies
5. When China actually becomes democratic. Axl is a master of irony.
I'd also add The Cult to the underrated.
ReplyDelete1. Sammy is incredibly talented, however I grew up with DLR. He's the true voice of VH!
ReplyDelete2. Everything after the Black Album has been un-buyable. Hey Lars!, I downloaded a couple of your tunes off of Napster...before it went soft & legal!
3. REM, Guns N Roses & Kiss
4. Dave Amulet got it right...Tesla by far is the most under-rated band. These guys put out great records consistently, something most bands fail to do. I'll also throw in my vote for Badlands. Ray & Jake made a great team.
5. Who cares. Guns have been over since Appetite for Destruction.
1. DLR
ReplyDelete2. Master Of Puppets
3. Guns'n Roses/Nirvana (tie)
4. UFO/Saxon (tie)
5. never
1. David Lee Roth
ReplyDelete2. The Black Album
3. Kiss
4. Tool, they do get credit but mostly a cult following. I think they are one of the top 10 bands of all time.
5. Never, there is no such thing as "Chinese Democracy" it's all just a hoax. It's just a way that Axl can stay in the spotlight for ten plus years.
1. David Lee Roth.
ReplyDelete2. I have to admit that the black album was o.k. in its way, but the last real masterpiece was Master Of Puppets.
3. KISS. Some of it is fun, but it isn't my idea of great hard rock. Of course, millions disagree
4. Acid Bath. See?
5. ...There is no Chinese Democracy. All there is, is a bunch of TDK D90s recorded on a cheap stereo system's built-in mic that feature Axl reciting 'beat poetry' he wrote while contemplating cereal boxes, while whoever played the intro to 'Sweet Child' best in the nearest guitar shop randomly noodles away. Everyone else Axl plays these tapes to, from his record company and the current members of G n' R to the mailman and the meter reader are too embarassed to tell him how bad it is, or ever let the world at large hear it. From time to time they let him announce a totally false release date to prevent him from completely losing his mind. No one is sure why they care, least of all the meter reader who is always pelted with dung when he leaves.
This was a great feature, I hope you do it regularly.
ReplyDelete1. Roth
ReplyDelete2. Master of Puppets. I liked Load/Re-load as commerical rock albums, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say really good on those.
3. AC/DC!!!
4. There are a lot. I'll say Voi Vod, but I dunno if that would stand if I thought about it longer.
5. Never.
1.Daft question the was only ever one singer with VH, and he couldn't sing :)
ReplyDelete2.Load, St Anger would have been half decent if it wasn't for the appalling production.
3.Led Zeppelin-they just never 'did it' for me.
4.Ratt
5.Chinese Democracy? That'll come out when the war on terror ends.
1. David Lee Roth (who else could look good in seatless, leather chaps?)
ReplyDelete2. Master of Puppets
3. Motley Crue
4. Cinderella
5. I think they buried it in the backyard.
