Heavy Metal Jukebox

Time again for the Heavy metal jukebox. This time it's a journey back to 1984. Early in the year the Raiders pounded the Redskins in the Super Bowl.

I hate the Raiders, but I hate the Redskins even more. However I love Ghostbusters and it came out that year.

Anyway here are your three song choices from 1984.

Ratt-Round and round
Scorpions-Rock you like a hurricane
Twisted Sister-We're not gonna take
it

***So which one do you choose?

  1. It's a tough call between "Rock You Like a Hurricane" and "We're Not Gonna Take It," but I think I have to go with the Scorps just for the Flying V!

  2. At the time, I would have said Twisted Sister. For most of past 20 years, Scorpions would get my vote.

But my Ratt kick of the past three years or so puts "Round and Round" on top.

Thankfully, it's a jukebox, and I can put in more money to hear all three.

I've got to second David. Back then it would be Twisted Sister in a landslide. It's still a fun song but now I would rank it
    1. Hurricane 2. RoundnRound 3. We're Not Gonna Take It

As a Raiders fan, '84 was my last moment of pure joy. Since then Al Davis has made more bizarre decisions than W.Axl on crack.

  5. How can you guys take Ratt when they don't have a Schenker?

  6. The opening guitar riff on "Hurricane" gives it my vote.

I'll have to go with Ratt...back in 1984, I was into Ratt and the Crue big time...back in 1984, I thought the Scorps were wimping out because Love at First Sting didn't rock as hard as Animal Magnetism and the new Twisted Sister wasn't as rocking as "You Can't Stop Rock and Roll", so I would have been all over the Ratt back in the day!

  8. I like the Scorpions a lot, but have heard that song way too many times. Round and round is pretty good. Yet there's something about Twisted Sister that keeps me coming back to them. Despite the cheese and lack of musical ability I would certainly choose Twisted Sister.

  10. WOW! Another tough choice!

I can eliminate the Scorpions. Love their music, but not as much as Ratt or TS.

Round and Round was a KILLER tune! I still play that one today and love it every time I hear it!

I have to go with TS though. I don't think that musically the song is better, but it was one of those Rock Anthems that was part of the sound track to my life, so it holds a more sentimental (or SentiMETAL) meaning for me.

While I like Dee Snider, I was never a TS fan. I liked "Hurricane", but my choice would be Ratt.

  12. I was in middle school and Twister Sister just kicked ass. However, looking back now, I'd say that musically, Scorpions would be my first choice.

Although "Round and Round" had such a hook.

    Here are mine:

    1) "Round & Round"
    2) "Rock You Like A Hurricane"
    3) "We're Not Gonna Take it"

  14. I would have to go with Ratt, because they are most likely not to be played on the radio right now.

  15. I go with Round and Round for this one. All three songs are ok really. I'm not real crazy about the Raiders either, but I always route for the AFC over the NFC in the Super Bowl. Always!

  16. I might have to move out since my wife just picked Ratt over the Scorpions!

  17. I pick Twisted Sister. It never gets old...the other two have.
