I think I'm gonna go with Mob Rules. When I bought Sad Wings of Destiny (about 23 years ago), I loved the cover, but it hasn't held up that well for me. Mob Rules isn't great, but I like that it's kinda creepy without using a lot of darkness.
What's with the sans-serif italic typeface on this crappy Sad Wings reissue? The original typeface isn't great, but at least it's not the aesthetic tragedy that some dimwitted designer unleashed on the world with this version.
(Don't mind me. I'm just feeling melodramatic because I used to have an original first pressing of this album, and it disappeared.)
All that aside, just imagine of the songs on Mob Rules were as good as the cover. Sabbath gets my vote.
Mob Rules

I'm going with Mob Rules.
ReplyDeleteIt's creepier and the artist put the letters O-Z-Z-Y in the drawing of the ground.

Sad Wings of Destiny is one of favorites. Dark and mysterious, very cool.

Tough one. I would probably have to go with Mob Rules but the JP cover is excellent as well.
