Number eight

My top ten hard rock/metal albums of 1987 rolls on with number eight and it is...

Celtic Frost-Into the pandemonium

A rather ambitious album for this band and a bit of a departure from their previous material. They had violins, backing female vocals blended with orchestral arrangements, a drum machine on one track and more. Yet just about all of it worked and helped show how far a metal band could branch out. A stunning album that still holds up well today.

The hint for number seven is that the band took their name from a Russ Meyer film.

  1. Like ABIGAIL, I thought this would rate higher on your list. I was never into Celtic Frost back in the day, I only got into the band sometime in the late '90s.

I'll guess Faster Pussycat for #7.

    Steve
    Heavy Metal Addiction

That's a bit more than a hint. Great album though.

  4. Rhodeislandrock-I got into Celtic Frost in 1986 and this album was a bit of a shock when it came out. Still very good though.

Bob-You already have one right as well.

anony-Yes, it may be, but there will be some more difficult hints on the way so stay tuned.

  5. So far so good. I like the extra comments with each post. I'll have to check out some of King Diamond's solo work.
