Sister Sin-Smash the silence

Photobucket
2007
Self-produced

A lot of bands have emerged from Sweden in recent years sounding and looking a whole lot like 1980’s bands that once upon a time crowded the Sunset Strip scene. This 5 song EP from Sister Sin definitely has a huge early Motley Crue influence yet the band go beyond that as well. The music is heavier and at times once the band is into a song, the overall vibe reminds me some of Accept as well. They definitely lean as much towards metal as they do towards a hard rock and actually achieve a nice balance between the two styles. I think that they do very well with this style and it sets them apart from the majority of bands coming out of their country. They also have a female vocalist Liv who has a strong set of pipes and a good handle for melodies. The chops are sharp and the guitar tone is fairly solid. I had little idea what to expect from this release, but I certainly enjoyed it a great deal. I would say that “Smash the silence” is very much like mid-1980’s style hard rock/metal and it pulled me immediately.
