Top albums of 1982
Here they are.1)Iron Maiden-The number of the beast2)Judas Priest-Screaming for vengeance3)Motorhead-Iron Fist4)Scorpions-Blackout5)Hanoi Rocks-Oriental Beat6)Venom-Black Metal7)KISS-Creatures of the night8)Twisted Sister-Under the blade9)Raven-Wiped Out10)Van Halen-Diver DownQuite a year indeed as my favorite albums from Maiden, Priest, Scorpions, MSG, Tank and Venom all came out in 1982. The NWOBHM was still holding strong. KISS came back with a good one after a few clunkers. Motorhead, Venom, Raven and others were laying down the foundations for what would become speed metal. Next week it will be my top ten for 1983.
For me, the Priest, Hanoi Rocks, Raven, Van Halen and KISS would come off and replaced by Accept - Restless and Wild, Y&T Black Tiger, Loudness - Devil Soldier, Tygers of Pan Tang - Crazy Nights and Vandenberg - Vandenberg.
ReplyDeleteSean-Accept and Y&T were considerations. Never heard those albums by Loudness and Tygers of Pan Tang. I am not big on Vandenberg.
ReplyDeletethe year I was indoctrinated in metal...ahh, what a year to come aboard

Diver Down seems like a sketchy choice. It always seemed like a lazy VH record to me. That being said, I wouldn't replace it with Vandenberg either.
ReplyDeleteBob-It's weak by Roth era Van Halen standards, but still better than most other bands on a good day. I mean the other top considerations were Rush, Accept and Y and T. For me Diver Down still does enough to beat those bands out.
