Panzerchrist-Regiment Ragnarok

Did you ever start watching a movie or read a book where the beginning is promising, but then it just feels like not enough happens to advance the story or the ideas? I was left left feeling that way on several songs of the latest from Panzerchrist. They play aggressive blackened death metal with lots of gnashing of teeth and growling spitfire vocals. There are plenty of brutal moments and the sound sure is thick. Yet they fail to avoid the trap of having several songs bleed together due to just how similar they are. Some times the songs seem to stop rather than being lead to a proper end. They bring up some interesting tones here and there. Yet all too often I found myself growing tired on this album and hoping for some more variation to break the rat-a-tat-tat rhythms that seem to just be going over and over. Heaviness and pure force can go a ways and it does on this album, but not enough to make it an album I would listen to over and over.
