Fergie Frederiksen-Happiness Is The Road

Frontiers Records
2011

American singer Dennis Hardy "Fergie" Frederiksen is probably best known for his time spent in Toto. Part of the “Isolation” era of the band, Dennis got his start by fronting Chicago pomp-rock bands MSFunk and Trillion. He also played with AOR bands Angel, Le Roux and Survivor as well as contributing to various musical projects such as Frederiksen/Philips, Mecca, Frederiksen/Denander and David London (solo album, under pseudonym). His solo debut album came in 1999 with “Equilibrium”. Quite the amount of time has passed between then and now though. In June of 2010 Frederiksen announced he had been diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. During the months that followed Dennis used the music and recording sessions as a form of therapy. It seems to have worked. The title track alone was written in collaboration with Jim Peterik(ex Survivor) and shows his new positive approach to life. How could he not be positive? After all in the summer 2011 Fergie not only finished the recording of his new album but more importantly the positive results to the cures he was under proved that he had beaten the odds and defeated the cancer! “Happiness is the Road” is his story of love and passion and throughout these 12 songs Dennis and company (Dennis Ward - Bass Guitar, Guitars, Keyboards and Background Vocals,Dirk Bruinenberg - Drums, Nathan Eshman - Guitars and Eric Ragno - Keyboards) play majestic AOR. Produced by Dennis Ward (House of Lords, Pink Cream 69, Place Vendome and Angra) "Happiness is the Road" is a brightly lit piece of art. The joy in Frederiksen's life is evident from the start as this is rock music with a purpose. It might sound corny sure but "Happiness is the Road" is an album that pulls you in because of it's positive energy. It sparkles with intensity and fuels your desire to listen to the album over and over again.
