DBUK-The Red Cross Is Giving Out Misinformation 7"

Pesanta Urfolk
2013

Released back in November of 2013, with both the title cut and "Immaculately Warded Children" making up this limited-edition 7" (125 pressed on black vinyl and 125 pressed on half-and-half silver/red vinyl), this looks to be the first studio recording  from "supergroup" DBUK. Featuring musicians with ties to "The Denver Sound"*, which includes both Slim Cessna's Auto Club and Munly & The Lupercalians, DBUK is HEAVY on the darkness while LIGHT on the delivery. Dark Americana (which this is for the most part) is pretty much like that in theory and practice and here, with male and female vocals (provided by Rebecca Vera?) delicately helping each other out along the way, DBUK does it as well as anyone else. Or at least any other Dark Americana outfits I've had the distinct pleasure of listening to as of late. Besides Rebecca Vera the line-up here includes Slim Cesna, Jay Munly and Lord Dwight Pentecost and, without making this one out to be anything more then it actually is (or for that matter trying to make this review all kinds of creative with unnecessary descriptive terms), for what it is (solemn folk) it's effective. As long as you know what you're getting yourself into then this 7" is worth checking out.
