Judge the album cover
Hope everyone had a good holiday. I am going to do a double dose of 80's album covers today.
First here is the cover of Keel's 1985 album "The right to rock".
Next up is the cover of "Every dog has it's day" which was done by Ohio based band Damien in 1987.
**So do you like either one, don't like them or are they just okay?

The Keel cover is basic and standard especially when compared to their first album, LAY DOWN THE LAW (1984).
Wasn't the Damien album reissued recently with a bonus video?
I like the Keel one best out of these two. It has that "Majesty Of Rock" factor :-)
Both are fine, Keel's cover is a bit better. Cheesy, yes--but it's good classic metal design.
I finally chased this down on CD not too long back, and the cover was sadly one of the better parts as of first listen. I love Ron Keel's voice, but some of the songs are just awful.

Rock of ages-It's a little over the top.
David-I had the Right to rock on cassette way back when and liked it. Then I didn't hear it again until I got it on cd a few years ago. I din't think much of it now. Even Ron's vocals to me aren't the best and the music is generic. I just recently got the The Final Frontier on vinyl and liked it a little more.
Captain Corky-Keel had a slight following in the mid to late 1980's. Damien were much more obscure.

Forgot to put what I thought of the covers. I like the Keel one, but it seems like the longer you look at it the tackier it begins to look. The Damien one is decent, it's simple and I like that. I also like their logo a bit.
looking at the Keel cover today, I could honestly create a design like that with minimal effort in photoshop and I am an amateur in that area.
The Damien cover is just bad.
Keel's looks dated and plain, I love the Damien cover, Not sure what you'll get, but you know it'll be hard and aggressive.
axeman-I used to stare at the Keel cover a lot when I had it as teenager.
bruce-I probably tend to like album covers more than a lot of people.

DPTH-I think you are right about Damien. They were straight classic style metal, kind of like Judas Priest.
I'm not crazy about either. The Keel cover is the better of the two.
Isn't Ron Keel now a country artist who goes by the name "Ronnie Lee Keel"? I could have sworn I saw that on Vh1's Least Metal Moments or something.

Speaking of album covers, I have quite a few punk and metal albums from the 70s and 80s that are going up on our walls when I finish turning our living room into a media/home theater room.
fred-Maybe if hadn't have seen both as a teen I wouldn't like them as much.
dsb-Welcome. Ron Keel did indeed go through a phase where he called himself Ronnie Lee Keel and did country music. This was back in the 90's after the hair metal was out of style. In recent years he has gotten back into rock music. He had a band called Iron Horse that I believe did two albums. Never heard them, but heard them described as hard rock crossed with southern rock. Now he has a new best of Keel due out soon on Retrospect records.
The Keel cover is as bad as the music. I kinda liked the Damien cover, because it had a kinda cool low budget appearence.
Axe man, didn't you use "fantastic" a few weeks ago when you meant "derivitive?" Now you've done the same thing with "awesome." I have to believe that either you are confusing the words or you live somewhere where the meanings are different for some reason, because it just seems impossible that you actually liked Britny Fox and Danger Danger and thought that Keel album cover was cool.
