Stryper jacket?

I had to go a local middle school to talk about books and stuff for my work yesterday. In one of the eigth grade classes was a boy wearing a denim jacket. His denim jacket had a Stryper-To hell with the devil backpatch on the back, two stryper logo patches on the sleeves and a Stryper patch on the front. It looked like there were Stryper songtitles all over the rest of the jacket written with black marker. It just seemed odd to me that someone that is 13 would be a huge Stryper fan. Perhaps he had a parent who was a fan and it was a handmedown. Of all the 1980's bands for a kid to like, Stryper just wouldn't seem like they should be at the top of anyone's list.

That's awesome! Granted, it's Stryper.....an odd choice but still very unique for today's average kid. I had a girl who worked for me for two years. On Friday nights, she would come in to work to pick up a friend and many times she would be wearing a vintage tour shirt.....they were dad's.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing a kid in a vintage tour shirt, seeing parents bring their teen to a show and seeing a kid enjoy music as much as I do.

that's where my jacket went!

I had a denim jacket in High School back in 1988 that had the To Hell With the Devil backpatch on it! Man, those were the days!

I had all the popular patches too: Dokken, Dio, Metallica, Def Leppard...

I agree with rhodeislandrock...It is awesome to see young kids wearing vintage tour shirts and listening to real metal and vintage music. I have a 13 and 10 year old and a 9 year old: we just got Guitar Hero 3 and all of them love to play Welcome to the Jungle, Number of the Beast and One. Makes me so proud to be a dad!

you never know...you should've seen the 15 year old going absolutely out of his skull at the Lizzy Borden show...even Lizzy made note of it when I talked to him

I still have my denim now made into a vest, but there MAY be a Stryper button somewhere amongst the million others....maybe

Steve-Who knows he may have been the kid of someone I went to school with. I remember a number of kids wearing Stryper shirts in high school.

HRH-I saw three classes and that was the only music related clothing I saw.

metalman777-My kids are still pretty little although they do look at album covers some.

Ray-I think you did have a Stryper button in high school.

Dschalek-What? You're kidding.

I'm 17, and I love 80's hair metal despite the fact that I'm too young to have lived during it and missed the boat. Stryper is one of my favorite bands, and people stop me all the time and ask me how I know who that is along with other lesser known bands of that genre like danger danger and hanoi rocks. In Europe there are new bands who look and sort of sound like the 80's glam bands, so I think a lot of younger people are picking up the older bands because they see those bands citing them as influences and stuff. 80's hair metal is the best!
