Favorite and least favorite Ozzy albums
Both are easy to pick out. "Diary of a madman" is one of those albums where every track works. I also think that this album is definitely meant to be listened to in it's entirety. That opinion comes from years of playing it over and over. Everything that was once cool about Ozzy is present here.
"Black Rain" is the third in a line of rotten studio albums from Ozzy and it's the worst of the bunch. Just piles of polish, noise and nonsense with being rolled to give a hollow performance. I believe that this was the worst album I heard the year this came out.

Ozzy should have called it quits after No More Tears, his last acceptable album. Black Rain was terrible, but was it worse than his covers album?
Sadly, I think Sharon will keep propping him up in the studio until people start thinking about the music and stop thinking about how cool they are for liking Ozzy. I don't care what he's done in the past. It's no excuse for how terrible the present is.
I think the cover album is posisbly worse, but I was just considering original studio albums because we know most cover albums are going to do be poor.
Black Rain was just bad and Ozzy knows it so he chose to blame Zakk. I'm not a huge fan of his solo stuff so I'm going to have to go with Black Sabbath stuff for favorite.
Ozzy is pretty much dead to me as he has become a clown and a sad joke.
I'm with Martell. I can't stand even seeing him anymore. Muttering like a fool and turning it into some kind of bizarre charm.
My favorite is also Diary. His solo stuff just wasn't ever the same after that because you could sense greater things to come if Rhoads had not passed away.
Least favorite has to be Ozzmosis.I actually like more tracks off of Black Rain then I do Ozzmosis. It was so glaring that as Bob vinyl said that he should have stayed retired with the anemic songwriting.
I don't think any of us appreciated just how good "No More Tears" was at the time. That said, I've been conflicted about a LOT of Ozzy's studio output. I was writing about this not long ago....about how so much of his early-80's stuff is drop dead brilliant, and nearly ruined by terrible over-production values.
t-o-n, I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say "drop dead brilliant," but I think you're right about the production. The 80s didn't serve many bands well in any genre production-wise.
