Discharge-Disensitise/War is hell

When punk rock began to explode in the mid-late 70's there were different lanes of that sounds. Like and other musical genre there was a variation upon the basic sounds, but different bands had their own take on the style. Several bands quickly pulled the simple noise factor of punk but powered it up a bit with heavy riffs and this would be the more hardcore approach that bands like the Exploited, GBH and of course Discharge took and nearly perfected. Discharge cranked out of the dirtiest, noisiest sounds of the early 80's and their music would influence other hardcore acts and later thrash and crossover bands too. Unfortunately line-up changes and differences in musical directions would lead to band dissolving before the end of the 80's. However a version of the band popped up again, but for a while they still failed to capture the spirit of their earlier material. However in 2008 they released Disensitise which was a very deliberate attempt to revive the sound of their prime from 80-83. In many ways they succeed in replicating that old steamroller sound. It's slightly alarming to hear the style played with good production values, but it's a likable album. Now Disensitise and the anthology War is hell are getting the re-issue treatment complete with bonus tracks. Both of plenty to offer and are sure to remind you why Discharge were such an important band in the hardcore scene.
