Summer

I had dreaded Summer in recent years because it was the busiest time at my work, but now I don't dread it as much. I might get to go on a vacation this year for the first time since we had kids as I believe late 2003 was the last time my wife and I went on vacation. Gardening and running are two of my favorite things to do so I get to do both of those a lot in the Summer. We are finally starting to plant some flowers out back. We have been here for three years, but are just recently getting around to adding some color to the lawn. I like gardening a lot, but until recently my mentality had always been "If I can't eat it then why grow it?". I am slowly getting away from that and trying to see the point of planting flowers. We are starting to think about doing a deck or patio. So on my off days this Summer I will put on best AC/DC shirt, wrinkled shorts and worn shoes and get out there and enjoy the sun while I can.

Just don't listen to too much Motorhead while doing your lawn. Wasn't it Lemmy who said they were the type of band that if they moved next door that your lawn would die?

I hope you get to go on a vacation Mark! And plant the flowers...your wife will love them, and you'll find that you like looking at them when they bloom too! :-)

My wife and I are doing a trip this summer also. Our first with our daughter. It should be an experience. BTW......when you're done with your yard, fell free to come to my house and take care opf my yard. I've got perenial flowers all over the place. They're nice to look at but a pain to clean up when they die.

Fuzz-Yes, that was Motorhead.

Curare Z-We are hoping to go somewhere. Last year we were going to go on vacation. Then we found out Christy was pregnant so we spent our vacaion week getting a more family sized car because it was the only week we really had time to go and look at cars.

Mike-I am not looking forward to that part of having flowers.

Since I don't have the space my garden is quite small, usually just a few tomatoes and some herbs. I do love, however, to grow flowers. I put some in the ground, but mostly in pots. Their bright colors cheer me on bad days! I am sure that Metal Girl and Boy will love to help you some day!

Just a side note, my grandfather always planted flowers on the border of his veggie gardens. He said it helped the bees to polinate the other plants. You know what, he had the most beautiful garden I have ever seen. Boy, I miss him!!!!

I've been away for a bit, but I love the new template.

And I finally listened to Queensryche's OM:II. Not very impressive on first hearing.

Phoenix-That's something I don't do enough. I get sunburn a lot.

David-Welcome back. I am skeptical of OM2, but I am just checking it out not buying. So I lose nothing except some time if it's no good.
