GnR sucks...album covers, albums, personnel, etc. :)
I think I give the GnR cover a lot of slack, because the music is great. Rock and Roll Over is just a great album cover and the sticker has been on my guitar case for 20 years.
Sean, once again has proven himself deaf. I'm not a stranger to the slaughter of sacred cows myself, but some albums have become sacred for good reason. Granted, a distaste for Appetite is nowhere near as egregious as disparaging Zeppelin, but still...it's a fantastic record.

I remember when Welcome to the Jungle world premiered on Headbangers Ball and I was watching it with my current band. At the end of the song, there was a brief moment of silence then one of the guys spoke up and said "dude, that's the sound we need to go for." i said "what? that fucking sucked. that dude's voice is terrible." i was and still am right. axl sucks. the music was fine and i have no problem saying it's one of the best produced albums ever...but again, axl sucks.

at the time this came out, i was into METAL. maiden, priest, fates warning, queensryche, mercyful fate, abattoir, metal church, slayer, sabbath...i didn't do LA eyeliner rock other than the first 2 Crue albums and maybe Odin. GnR looked like poseurs and sounded like it.
the funny thing was that i was out of the band a week later. it worked out for all of us. they spent the next few years playing GnR, Poison and other sissy bands. I continued to play metal.
By the way, I love people like you, Bob.
Now, I'm pretty much with you on the hair bands and that's why GnR were so good. Those bands were fluffy pop bands with (bad) guitar solos, but GnR had real meat to their tunes. As stupid as they were in public (and I don't know that their stupidity could be overstated), their songs had some kinda substance to them. Axl wasn't a technically skilled singer, but he had style. I think lumping GnR in with Poison and that lot is off-base.
Besides, you like Queensrÿche. That doesn't give you much cred.
Rock and roll oves, it's strong even for KISS who had a few good covers. The G-n-R one is decent, but I always feel they wasted lots of space on it.
Sean, I'm glad you enjoy this. I'm anxiously awaiting a return of the favor.
Sean-As far as music I really think G-n-R very mcuh helped keep hard rock alive with this album. It still holds up well. You also mentioned Odin, uh, yeah they were actually kind of awful.
Man, I have so much to learn about metal. After all these years I thought I knew something.

NP: Sacred Rite - is Nothing Sacred?
Once we get you straight on the metal, we'll dive into more important topics like punk and hardcore.
I'm well versed with both genres but not much of a fan of either. Cro-Mags, early Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DRI, GBH, JFA, Minor Threat, Dead Boys, Reagan Youth and some early Skrewdriver are about all I can stand.
Sean-You had me until Skrewdriver.
Now I can see why the more metally bands like Cro-Mags and DRI would appeal to you more than others, but to single out a band like JFA as one of the few you can stomach seems odd. Don't get me wrong, I love 'em too, but I'm curious why you like them and not the Dead Kennedys or Agent Orange for instance.
Yeah Mark, Skrewdriver is an odd choice just because of all the neo-nazi stuff. They're a hard band to like and instantly beg for an explanation of why one would bother listening in the first place.
That's why I said "early" Skrewdriver. Their first one was pre-racist/nazi etc. The one after that, lyrics not-withstanding, was pretty good. A lot of the skater kids I hung around with were into the nazi punk, so it fell into my radar.
I do like DK and Agent Orange's Living In Darkness was really cool. But the genre in general doesn't appeal to me. Some odds and ends throughout the years have come across my path and I dig them but in general it's not my thing. I'll also add some Husker Du in there. Good stuff.
JFA rules. I saw them in 84(?) in Virginia Beach, VA with Dead Aim and someone else. They killed it.
I love how judgemental you guys are and how it seems to me that you judge a person by the bands he likes and dislikes.
If you really want to rip my tastes to shreds, feel free to go through my CD collection. And yes, I realize that there's Paula Abdul and Milli Vanilli in there. i guess my metal cred is ruined forever.

Sean-Judge a person by the bands they like or dislike? No, I just rate bands and give reasons for it. Nothing personal at all, but if I disagree a with an opinion on music then I say so.
Whoa! Did you just throw in the Hüskers? I think that buys you back the cred lost on hating GnR. 'Cause man, I hate the Pixies and I love to see Hüsker Dü get mentioned ahead of them.
So, I understand the JFA thing now. It's a fond memory. They're just an odd choice out of the blue. Historically, they haven't been remembered like other bands. I loved'em though and I still watch ebay for a reasonable price on the "My Movie" 7" which is the only one I never owned.
What would you rather be judged on? Being a swell guy? What bands you like is the only thing that matters. It's a litmus test for character after all.

Is your list all CDs or is it vinyl too? We have some of the same stuff and some different.
You need Delirious Nomad, by the way. it's a hole in your otherwise respectable Armored Saint collection.
I will say that it takes a confident man to expose to the world that he owns FIVE Paula Abdul records! To be fair, my collection isn't without its skeletons in the closet either (and not just the Anthrax and Grateful Dead variety either).
It's all CDs and I have been trimming the collection down quite a bit. Got a bunch of stuff on eBay and about 100 more to go. Seller ID: acacia70 if you want to peek. Nothing too crazy, just some fluff and stuff I have acquired over the last few years.
I've got Delirious Nomad on tape somewhere.

Over on my side of cyberspace, I coulda' swore I heard someone mention Delirious Nomad. What a brilliant f'n album! I remember picking that one up as a kid when all I had was a cheesy turntable that only covered part of the LP. My LP was so warped that it wouldn't play in a normal fashion, so I had to weight it down to enjoy those brief moments of musical brilliance.
