For sure DOKKEN.They were a huge influence for a lot of hard rock bands of that era. And also they had George Lynch.....what else can I say about Mr. Scary? One of the greatest guitarists ever, a unique sound and some really inspired solos and riffs!!!
About Quiet Riot, for sure a great band with some really good albums.
It's all about matter of taste :-)
Close, but I'll take Dokken. Tooth and nail beats out anything that QR did.
This is difficult, but for body of work I'll go with Dokken. Tooth and Nail, Under Lock and Key and Back for the Attack are pretty massive, especially T&N. I adore Metal Health and Condition Critical as well. Tough one.
Dokken...Not all of their music aged well, but what they did right they did better than the vast majority of LA bands. They're almost tragic when you consider how much more talented they were than Ratt or Poison, but at the end of the day, they'll always come off as the insecure guys trying to be the next big thing, rather than the kind of band who could be known for doing something new.
Gee Metal whiz. Alright, Dokken. Based on the larger catalog of albums, which are loaded with memorable songs. Plus, Don Dokken can flat out sing, still everyone points to George Lynch on the axe and rightfully so. Dokken and Lynch were a powerful duo.
Even though I picked Dokken, Quiet Riot always has a place in my Metal soul.
Stone
Dokken without question. QR had half of a good album. Dokken had several.
Dokken. Although I DO like Carlos Cavazo (who I think is playing for Ratt, currently ?)
Anyhoo, his lead licks with Q.R. were loosely cloned from Randy Rhoads, and that's NEVER a bad thing.
Too bad everything else after Metal Health stunk the band up.
Heff,
Yep, Carlos is in Ratt. He must be a decent fit because the new album is solid.
I would deffinitely say Dokken not because they are better as a band persay, but because their first four albums kicked Quiet riots firts four albums (including Quiet Riot 1 and 2) butts, but I both bands just as much, well maybe Dokken a little more.
