Axe Battler - The Wrath Of My Steel EP

Metalmania Records 2010
Heavy metal from Chile. You've got to love the universal appeal of the almighty guitar and the unholy racket it makes when tuned up to 11 on the amp (thank you Spinal Tap). Axe Battler are not out to reinvent the genre. Instead this is the type of metal band I've seen a hundred times in run down, beer soaked bars (I say that with the greatest of love!). This is the type of band you can picture playing balls out and full speed ahead. Playing just for the thrill of watching crazy kids bounce off of each other. Jp Battler (vocals/bass) doesn't really sing so much as talk his way through songs. But while he is no Dio on the mic (R.I.P. Ronnie) he gets the job done. Chris and Diego play some straightforward guitars that flash and shred in just the right moments and drummer Manuel keeps the beat going. It's nothing amazing but it has a charm to it. Having seen a picture of these guys (who by the way were rocking T-Shirts by Picture and Tank) you can tell they have metal running through their veins. This is a nice start for Axe Battler. Being as they are a young band the future is theirs to take hold of.

I love the cover. It's like some long lost indie metal album from 1982. I mean that in a good way too.

I know! That's what I thought too. Like shouldn't this be some re-release from the early 80's?

I admire any blue-collar, diy, kick the trash can down the driveway, Metal band out there that gives it their best shot!

The truth to the matter, is it's bands like this that are truly kicking the mainstream's "highly touted" bands asses that you see too often on Hollywood awards shows. Underground RULES. IMO.
