Bands that only I seem to like

It may sound strange, but are there any bands that you like a lot, but no one that you know is real into them? Maybe you have played them for others thinking they would like the band as much as you, but they didn't. Ultimately you may wonder why you get this band and others don't. I have a few bands that I feel that way about.

Lizzy Borden-I like these guys a lot except for their Visual lies album. Yet nobody seemed to think they were better than just being okay. I always felt they were a good mix between LA hard rock and more standard metal.

Hanoi Rocks-They were big in Japan, the UK and I like them, but that might be it. They are very different and I liked them the moment I heard them, but most people I played them for were not as thrilled as I was about them.

Dark Angel-I always these guys were just a little shy of being the level of Slayer. Yet most other people around me may have like d them, but didn't think they were all that special.

Armored Saint-I am beginning to see now that more people like them than what I thought. However, when I was in high school and college I raved about them and played them all the time, but it just seemed to be me.

So how about you?

Funny, the only Lizzy album that I ever owned was Visual Lies and I didn't like it so I never went out and listened to to their other stuff.

I do like both Dark Angel and Armored Saint. I loved Leave Scars, what a technical record.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, it was hard to turn any of metal friends onto death metal. I loved it but most of them couldn't get past the vocals.

Lately, I've been trying to get people into Slough Feg, who I consider to be one of the best American power metal bands, but since you can't find their records anywhere, it's tough to get people interested in them.

I was really big on Helix back in the day but not to many others seemed to give them much thought.

You're not the only one who likes Hanoi Rocks; I still pull out my Two Steps from the Move CD once in a while. The gorup may be the only Finnish band in my collection.

As for me, I get some heat for listening to some of the cheesiest of the hair metal/arena rock/whatever we call it, like Slaughter. But then people who are OK with that tend to mock the Iced Earth or Testament. Sometimes you just can't win.

Bruce-That can happen too.

Fred-Visual Lies was a bit of a sell-out for them. I looked up Slough Feg after you mentioned them and gave up when I saw their album wasn' availible at Amazon and the one or two copies at ebay had a lot of bids on them.

Fuzz-I liked Helix, but not too many other people did.

David- I get that too about the lighter and heavier bands.

Steve-I like all of those bands that I have heard except Dangerous Toys who are just okay and VVI who I think was a poor writer with his solo stuff despite some great solos.

I always took chances on buying stuff by bands that I hadn't heard and buying bands that were on indie labels. In high school I think a lot of the people that I hung around listened to maybe 80% of the same stuff that I did. In college the people I hung around with pretty much wouldn't listen to any metal that wasn't on MTV so they didn't for a lot of the things I liked.

I ordered all of my Slough Feg CDs from my pal Tim at:

He has a nice little site with lots of rare and hard to find stuff.
