Eight days of the 80's
I had originally planned on doing 80's week next week, but there are so many things I would like to do for it that I have decided to start it on Saturday and call it "Eight days of the 80's". I am going to do:
-four albums reviews
-top ten 1980's movies list
-top ten 1980's TV shows
-top ten 1980's arcade games
-something about metal in 1984 because it was such a great year
-something about life in the 80's
That actually makes nine which means I will have to double up somewhere along the line. There are a few non-music topics in there, but these were also interests I had in the 80's. So that will start this Saturday.

Mark, you just made me laugh so hard when you'd built up this 8 to the 80's theme, and then you realised you'd got nine topics.
I don't know whether it was intentional but it sure made me laugh.
Ben-It was intentional. I figured I could double up two of the top ten lists on one day or I may do two albums by the same band and put them together on the same day. Also "nine days of the 80's" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Can't wait to see your list of metal albums in 1984. Off the top of my head, nothing leaps to mind other than VH's 1984!
Theodore - I believe 1984 actually came out in 1983.
Mark - I'm an 80's freak, so I can't wait to talk about Donkey Kong, Breakfast Club, Whitesnake, and Silver Spoons.
I'm looking foward too, but I have to say, it was all about Asteroids, baby, Asteroids!
Theo-I think 1984 was such a good year for metal that there were at leasst five albums that did not make my tope ten list that year, but they would have made the top ten list for any other year that decade.
Mike-
Chances of getting mentioned
Donkey Kong-Likely
Silver Spoons-Probably not
Breakfast Club-Possibly
Whitesnake-Perhaps not, but next year the self titled album will probably get a 20 year old album review.
Van Halen's 1984 was recorded in 1983, but released on January 9th, 1984.
Onmywatch-I think Asteroids was made in 1979 so it may not make the list even though it was very popular in the early 80's.
I think my album reviews for "8 days of the 80's" will be:
Judas Priest-Defenders of the faith
Motley Crue-Shout at the devil
Van Halen-Fair Warning and 1984 (probably will be done on the same day)
YAY! I love the 80s!!
well, shoot. good thing I'm not doing this post, I'd be all about 1979. :) oops.
Sounds great. If you add more topics, will this series go up to eleven??
Perhaps you can combine life in the 80s and arcade games into one. Just a thought to keep it to eight, nine is such a strain on your readers! heheh
OMW: Don't forget Galaxian and Galaga. Anything that began with "Gala," really.
I'm looking forward to this.

David-I think two of the four album reviews are both going to be Van Halen albums so I will probably do those together to get it done in eight days.
I think I know what my top movies and video games are, but tv shows might take a little longer to figure out. Although I am sure that my list will not be exactly the same as anyone else's list.
David: haven't heard of those, but just looked it up and played galaga on my computer - damned near broke my spacebar! ha! :)
Sorry Mark, I'm about to turn 40 this month and I think I'm having a mid-life crisis right here in your comments section.
looking forward to your Van Halen reviews. :)
Sweet. '84 ruled in many ways. My addendum to Van Halen's 1984 is that I'd saved two weeks' allowance to buy it on vinyl, and when we got home, my mom shocked me by asking me to play it on the family stereo. I vividly remember scrubbing the foyer floor with "House of Pain" cranking and my mom tapping her foot along and nodding in appreciation. I think our relationship changed much at that point, for the better...
