The year so far

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We will soon be 1/4 of the way through 2007. So far I have heard two albums released this year. Sad, I know but judging from the title of my blog you may have reasoned that I buy more older cds than new ones. I am still hopeful about the new Megadeth and excited about the new Rush. Have you heard many new cd's yest this year? If so what have you heard and did you like it?

I also buy a lot of older albums and I am always behind in buying new releases, I'm still trying to catch up on 2006!

I've heard the new Vixen and it's a turd, the review is at my site.

I have Shaw/Blades - Influence, it's good for a covers album.

I have Mob Rules - Ethnolution A.D. sitting on my desk so I have high hopes for it.

I'm looking forward to new albums by Manowar, Night Ranger, Rush, and the Sabbath/RJD collection.

I haven't heard many at all. The only new CD that I purchased this year was Titan. I haven't even picked up the new Fu yet. It looks like a lot of releases are coming out in May. I'm looking forward to:

1. Solitude Aeturnus - Alone
2. Rush - Snakes and Arrows
3. Dinosaur Jr. - Beyond
4. Wilco - Sky Blue Sky

I'm up in the air about the new Megadeth. I heard one song called Sleepwalker. The music was good but the lyrics were silly.

I managed to listed to the new Rush song several times yesterday before they pulled it from Rush.com and it sounded really good. It was catchy enough that I was humming the chorus after just one listen.

The only album actually released in 2007 I've picked up is the new Finger Eleven. It's a bit more pop than the last album, which had some good time sigs and riffs on it ... but this will be the year of Rush for me.

The only new cd that I have purchased was Doughtery. It wasn't that bad. Not great but passable. I am looking forward to the new Rush.

When I like something new it is old by the time I get around to buying it! The latest CD I got is Stainds Greatest Hits and the newest Evanescense.

I just picked up the new Battlelore and prog metaller's Wuthering Heights. I look forward to the new Rebellion and Manowar.

The new Zandelle isn't bad, it's my first exposure to the band.

New discs from 2007 that have been outstanding are Jorn, Unlocking the Past and the Gathering (2 discs released in January) If you guys like Coverdale, and Dio, you really need to give Jorn Lande a try. Yes, he really is that good. I am not kidding you. It seems to be the best kept secret in the U.S. right now.

February's lone standout was Koritni's Lady Luck disc (although I haven't had a chance to pick up the new Rhino Bucket discs from February yet.)

I should have the new Masterplan MKII disc in my hand any day now. I have heard some tracks off it. It is going to be great.

The new Shaw/Blades and Dokken CD's from this month are interesting listens. (More on those at HRH this week.)
