Bad lyric day

This is a new monthly feature I am going to try. The last weekday of the month I will search and find some bad lyrics, likely just part of a hard rock or metal song and post it. I will also write something brief about it.

They may not be the Kings in Satan's Service, but KISS are likely one of the kings of bad hard rock lyrics. Here are some lyrics from "Saint And Sinner" from the Creatures of the night album.

I'm getting off this carousel, you can do as you please, you can go to hell
You put my back against the wall
Well I'm not gonna fall on my knees, no not at all

Chorus:So you're a saint, I'm a sinner, but deuces are wild
Better wake up, it's break up, I ain't got the time
So (baby) you can kiss my heart bye bye
Next to you I feel I'm all alone, love's turned to stone, ooh yeah
Cross my heart and hope to cry, well I'm not gonna die
Without you it's aces high

Although a good song off a great album, it sounds like the ramblings of a crazy person. I mean really "Cross my heart and hope to cry"? They must have spent hours coming up with that gem. Now it's betteer when they are singing it because it's fairly fast and you can't easily catch it all. Yet when you read it you get the sense that it's a bit of a jumble of cliches all kind of tossed into the pot. That's my take on it anyway.

Creatures is a great album but KISS were never poets, LOL! 'Saint & Sinner' is bad lyrically but 'Keep Me Comin' isn't great either:

Hands on my shoulders now, you're getting bolder,
your fears are slipping away
Each little bite lets me know that you're ripe,
you're thinking maybe you'll st
ay
Now that you're burning to know,
how far you're willing to go
Now that it's under your skin, now that you're lettin' me in

Chorus:
You gotta keep me comin' (keep me comin'),
keep me comin' (keep me comin')
You gotta keep me comin' (keep me comin'),
keep me comin' babe (keep me comin')

Pure Paul Stanley.....now if you did a song off Crazy Nights you could go with 'Bang, Bang You'.

This is a cool topic, because rock music is full of rotten lyrics. Even taking into consideration that lyrics don't have to be poetry since they don't stand on their own, it's still hard to stomach some of this stuff. Kiss is as guilty as anyone in this respect. Spending any time listening to Kiss for the lyrics is a real moron-a-thon, but I agree that these are particularly bad even for them.

It wouldn't suprise me if Gene and Paul, and everyone else who worked on Kiss albums, only took two hours to write an entire album. Still I can't help but love Kiss.

They are some dumb lyrics, but Creatures is one of the best KISS albums ever. I enjoy all the songs on the album and it was the first KISS album that I can actually remember since I was around 3 or 4 when it came out. My neighbor had it and I was enthralled by the cover photo of the record.

"Jumble of cliches" is a good description of most KISS lyrics. I love the music, but try not to listen to the words too much ...

I think you could do a month of dumb KISS lyrics. My personal favorite is the song "Burn Bitch Burn" from Animalize:

I got nasty habits, it's a fine line, so many girls and so little time
When love rears its head, I wanna get on your case
Ooh baby, wanna put my log in your fireplace, maybe baby, you wanna get played

Also, you can't forget Spinal Tap:

Big bottom, Big bottom, talk about mud flaps my girl's got 'em

And Brian Johnson's AC/DC is always good for a laugh. These are from "Cover You in Oil":

I like to slip into something good
I see a young girl in the neighborhood
The way she move, I must confess
I like to run my hands up and down her legs
The way she dress, she look so fine
I'll make her wet, gonna make her mine
She like it hard, she's gonna like it slow
All right honey, come on lets go

Sometimes it is rather clear that KISS took some Elementary school Reading books and changed a couple words to make it seem "grown up". LOL

I'm a KISS fan, but I'd be the first to admit that they are simple...simple...good time rock n roll. No thought required...just kick back and rock out.

I have no idea where they would be posted but it must be someplace -- you cannot copyright obscenities in lyrics so rhyming words are substituted, resulting some funny reads and pure nonsense

GREAT feature, Mark! And yeah, this is terrible lyrically. I always think of Gene lasciviously growling "'Cuz when I go through her... (snare drum strike) it's a hot knife... (dead space) through butterrrrrrrrr..."
