Warlock.

When Thundersteel came out I thought the album cover looked so stupid that I refused to buy it. Not to mention that they looked like a silly glam band on the back cover.

Boy am I glad my best friend made me listen to it. The album is great as is the Warlock album.

Fortunately for me I am seeing Riot tomorrow night in San Antonio with the Thundersteel lineup! I'm very excited. Expect a full review later in the week.

They're both kind of dorky, but the Warlock one stands out more.

I'm going with Riot, only because it doesn't have Doro Pesch being felt up by some stupid specter.

This is actually a tough call for me. I like Warlock, but I keep getting stuck wondering why they need the close-up of the warlock dudes' face and him with Doro. It feels more like an artist who did more than was needed. Riot is alright late 80's comic book art, but that's all it's trying to be. I'll take Riot.

I had both of these on cassette(!). The underachieving Thundersteel cover hides a truly great album. And I've always been entranced by the Warlock cover; reminds me a bit of Frank Frazetta's work, or something I'd see on the cover of Heavy Metal magazine. It's an apple-and-orange comparison for me; I can't pick just one.

Found your blog through your comment on Retrospace. Have you seen Maiden's Flight 666 documentary yet? I'm halfway through it and it's pretty decent.
