Battle of the bands
Both these acts have had ups and downs in their long careers. Both probably peaked in the 70's.

Kiss was good for what they were, but they were always, to some extent, pursuing someone else's musical direction. They have a long history of bringing in professional songwriters and always had marketing in mind with everything they did.
The original Alice Cooper Group albums are all, with the exception perhaps of Pretties For You, better than anything Kiss did. Alice did have some confusion in musical direction at times and sometimes jumped on a musical bandwagon, but more often, he took chances in trying to keep his approach fresh. Even when he failed, he usually did it with some sort of integrity.
I know a lot more people like Kiss, but picking Alice Cooper was about as easy a choice for me as it could be.
I'm a big fan of the "Shock Rock" genre...Alice Cooper, GWAR, Twisted Sister, Lordi, Marilyn Manson, etc
So, of course I like Alice Cooper a lot.
But, to summarize Scott Ian (of Anthrax): "the perfect band already exists. It's name is KISS!"
Both bands put out some bad albums and Alice's may be worse, but his best stuff from 1971-74 still blows away those prime 1975-1978 years of KISS.
KISS had their best were catchy hard rock. The original Alice Cooper band was a crazy mixture of off the wall sounds and noises that dragged you in. Alice all the way.
If Kiss were using professional songwriters then they should have been fired. Most of their songs from the 70's were juvenile attempts at sexual innuendo and rock cliches.
Alice Cooper at least brought some personality and originality to his material.
I'm going with Alice Cooper.
AC all the way. Killer is one of my favorite tapes of all time. That live DVD from the Billion Dollar Babies tour is incredible! That stage show is way better than anything Kiss ever did.
KISS is "four Alice Coopers". KISS wins.
Um, uh... well, it's... KISS.
Sorry, Alice Cooper!
I'm not a big fan of both Kiss and Alice Cooper, however I prefer Alice Cooper!
Matteo
