JoyCut-PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround

Irma Records
2014

Taking their name from the conceptual conjunction between the Nick Drake song "Joey" and the Pink Floyd album "The Final Cut", which is something that is oddly beneficial to this group's overall presence, JoyCut are an Italian act which was formed back in 2001. Now 13 years into their existence, and on album number three with the mouthful "PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround", this Bologna-based quartet fuses the sounds of electronic rock and dark-wave together with subtle hints of everything from space-rock to goth rock. It's all equally inspired sounding for all the world more like a high energy soundtrack to the world's best (rock-inspired) rave and for JoyCut, who actually self-produced their latest release along with "Pillow Case" (you got me?), it's a soundtrack that should be shared amongst friends and family who are old enough to remember the bridge that was formed between Echo & the Bunnymen and Daft Punk, but are still young enough to enjoy it all! Whether you're hosting your next casual gathering, house party or even underground jam JoyCut's "PiecesOfUsWereLeftOnTheGround" makes for an essential addition to one's playlist!
