1. I agree wholeheartedly with Robert Ethier here--Van Halen ended when Roth left.

2. Black Album was good, but even better was Ride the Lightning.

3-5: I'll have to think of this... and I didn't know #5

1. David Lee Roth, the one and only!

2. The Black Album

3. Pantera (IMO, all they did was update the Metallica sound, nothing as groundbreaking or inspirational as, say, Judas Priest, Maiden, etc.)

4. Raven (I know they let everybody down with "Stay Hard and "The Pack is Back", but a band this powerful shouldn't be dissed after only two disappointing albums)
On a second thought, I would say that every band from the NWOBHM, apart from Maiden, Leppard and maybe Saxon was kind of underrated in their time: Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Satan, Witchfinder General, Venom (they’re like those village idiots that accidentally discover something pivotal without knowing it)…

5. Stanley Kubrick comes back from the dead and shoots "2001 part II: HAL's Revenge!"

1 - David Lee Roth , I never cared for Sammy
2- And Justice For All .. The black album wasn't bad, but I consider it the sellout period.
3 - I'm going to say LA Guns I never cared for them.

4- Prog. Rock/metallers Eternity X they never got their due, but relesed 3 great albums

5. Within the year, but as the title of another greatest hits album.

1-Diamond Dave
2-Master of puppets
3-Guns and Roses: Appetite was great and Use your illusions could have been very good had the best songs been on one album. That's it and they have done nothing in 14 years yet they still make headlines.
4-Armored Saint
5-Axl grows up (i.e.-Not any time soon.)

(1) The best singer for Van Halen was DLR. No contest.

(2 )The last really good album Metallica did was the Black Album. Sure, it sucked by Metallica's standards. What wouldn't? But it was a good hard rock album, no doubt, no matter how much we hated it at the time for not being as good as we all knew Metallica could be.

The last GREAT Metallica album was Master of Puppets.

(3) The most overrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is Motley Crue. I love the band in many ways, but let's admit it--there wasn't a single album that was good all the way through, and most of their releases only had a few really good cuts.

(4) The most underrated hard rock/heavy metal band of all time is Tesla. The frist three studio albums were some of the best straightforward hard rock of time.

(5) Guns and Roses will release Chinese Democracy this year. Yes, I'm serious.

VH - Roth

Metallica - Master of Puppets

Overrated - Limp Bizkit

Underrated - I'll hop aboard the Faith No More wagon...it's so very, very true

Chinese Democracy comes out when Axl Rose decides that music is more important than basketball games, the loser

1. Sammy is incredibly talented, however I grew up with DLR. He's the true voice of VH!

2. Everything after the Black Album has been un-buyable. Hey Lars!, I downloaded a couple of your tunes off of Napster...before it went soft & legal!

3. REM, Guns N Roses & Kiss

4. Dave Amulet got it right...Tesla by far is the most under-rated band. These guys put out great records consistently, something most bands fail to do. I'll also throw in my vote for Badlands. Ray & Jake made a great team.

5. Who cares. Guns have been over since Appetite for Destruction.

1. David Lee Roth

3. Kiss
4. Tool, they do get credit but mostly a cult following. I think they are one of the top 10 bands of all time.
5. Never, there is no such thing as "Chinese Democracy" it's all just a hoax. It's just a way that Axl can stay in the spotlight for ten plus years.

1. David Lee Roth.
2. I have to admit that the black album was o.k. in its way, but the last real masterpiece was Master Of Puppets.
3. KISS. Some of it is fun, but it isn't my idea of great hard rock. Of course, millions disagree
4. Acid Bath. See?
5. ...There is no Chinese Democracy. All there is, is a bunch of TDK D90s recorded on a cheap stereo system's built-in mic that feature Axl reciting 'beat poetry' he wrote while contemplating cereal boxes, while whoever played the intro to 'Sweet Child' best in the nearest guitar shop randomly noodles away. Everyone else Axl plays these tapes to, from his record company and the current members of G n' R to the mailman and the meter reader are too embarassed to tell him how bad it is, or ever let the world at large hear it. From time to time they let him announce a totally false release date to prevent him from completely losing his mind. No one is sure why they care, least of all the meter reader who is always pelted with dung when he leaves.

1. Roth
2. Master of Puppets. I liked Load/Re-load as commerical rock albums, but I don't know if I'd go so far as to say really good on those.
3. AC/DC!!!
4. There are a lot. I'll say Voi Vod, but I dunno if that would stand if I thought about it longer.
5. Never.
