Astrosoniq-Quadrant

Astrosoniq technically hail from Oss in the Netherlands, but you wouldn't really know that from listening to them. Judging from their music you might they grew up near some swamp in Bayou around the late 60's-early 70's and then were abducted by aliens and took of on some long cosmic journey to other lands. Sound strange? Perhaps, but it will perfect sense once you hear "Quadrant" and experience the often twangy, frequently psychedelic space rock sensations of Astrosoniq. "Cloud of decay" is a swirling, warped machine of strange sounds and noises, but you'll soon be pulled along for the ride. Not every track is from another world as "Bloom" is a more direct 70's style metal with piles of squealing solos and plenty of grooves. Although several songs build up slowly there are exception like "Downfall lover" which is a sheer bulldozer powered by massive doses of thick fuzz. The most impressive track is without a doubt "As soon as they got Airborne" which is a fourteen minute plus journey powered by twangy southern fried riffs that soon give way to a more psychedelic jam. The track eventually launches into space metal with cosmic riffage that will have your head swimming amidst the stars. Astrosoniq are certainly not afraid to take chances and mix styles they are pretty darn good at it. If there is a downside it's that the music is certainly not for everyone, but those that do enjoy this style are in for a treat.
