Recorded at Negative Space in Cleveland by John Delzoppo, during which time "Zero fucks were given", this 2-track digital release, which is a pay what you want download, features the kind of still wasted from the night before and still totally pissed-off punk/hardcore that one needs to get through another week of boredom and frustration. Featuring Tony Erba on lead vocals (who may or may not be completely psychotic-you make the judgement call there) the band's personal interests include "Glue huffing,straight edging, race baiting, race mixing, the search for bigfoot, long walks off short piers and wide stances in airport bathrooms". If that sounds like just your poison then be sure to check out the group's bandcamp page and, while you're there, why not throw these crazy maniacs a buck or two? After all, living ain't easy and being in a band (whether as deranged as Fuck Off Pay Me or not) doesn't come cheap!

Who knew that Denver, Colorado was home to one the reported gateways to hell? Otherwise how am I to explain the unholy & ungodly nature of a group like Primitive Man? Formed in 2012, with "Scorn" originating as a self-release, the group features in their ranks vocalist/guitarist Ethan Lee McCarthy (Clinging To The Trees of A Forest Fire, Death of Self, Withered and Keep), bassist Jonathan Campos and drummer Isidro "Spy" Soto (Kitezh). With "Scorn" serving as their introduction to the world (and what an introduction!)the 3-piece collective known as Primitive Man combine doom, sludge and flat-out noise to deliver a release that is distorted, loud, volatile and above all heavy! One could easily imagine that "Scorn" would serve perfectly as the soundtrack to our eventually destruction as a planet, whether by the hands of some worldwide plague or by the devastating effects of a nuclear holocaust, or even as the background noise to some sick snuff film! Unleashing "music" such as "Scorn" on an unsuspecting public would no doubt bring a wicked smile to the faces of this 3-piece band which I wholeheartedly endorse! Be sure to catch hold of this re-release from Relapse when it oozes itself along towards you.

Above The Earth-Above The Earth

Above The Earth is a project featuring Serbian vocalist Aleksandra Radosavljevic (ex-Destiny Potato) and Russian guitarist/vocalist Arsafes (Kartikeya). In January of 2012 the pair decide to collaborate on a new project. This self-titled EP (released in December of 2012) is the result of that collaboration. To say that Above The Earth is a unique project is an understatement. Aided by bassist Aleksander and drummer Alex Smirnov (and a few guests) the pair's recorded material falls somewhere between ambient pop/noise and atmospheric progressive metal. As oddly as this EP presents itself it's also one of the those warm and inviting sounds that showcases a real commitment to the art of texture. After the very brief intro "Unmasked" you get into the heart of the matter with "Trapeze". Featuring Jakub Zytecki (a talented 17 year old guitarist from Przeworsk, Poland) the number is close to six minutes in length and features a wonderful balance between epic solo work and the enduring vocals of Aleksandra Radosavljevic. In reality there is not much to set the number apart from the next cut, "You". Both feature ambient/atmospheric rock with heavy guitar solos. The difference though lays within the more metal crunch of "You". "Eden" features another Serbian musician in vocalist/songwriter Aleksandra Djelmash and is a strangely beautiful ambient pop/progressive metal/noise track that serves as a guided tour of a night's worth of dreams. Speaking of dreams, the album's closing cut is the excellent "All Our Dreams" featuring musician Adam Nolly Getgood. Again we see the balance between beauty (Aleksandra Radosavljevic) and ugliness (fuzzed out/distorted guitars) work in such a way as to complement each other rather than react in such a fashion as to offer a clash of styles . Whatever you might choose to call Above The Earth (A project? A band?) there is no denying that this self-titled EP has a underlying charm all it's own. Be sure to check this one out for yourselves.

Rotorvator-Heaven EP

Do not adjust your stereo. The sound you are hearing is not of this world. Something dark and ominous has found a way to slip through the cracks and it's name is Rotorvator. From their own page (link below) we are offered this by way of explanation: "Rotorvator performs violent rituals constantly inspired by everything that is unbearable and unfathomable to the human mind. Its vision of music is one of loud, raw and deliberately offensive sounds, messing up black metal, noise, industrial and psychedelia." Actually, this 3-track EP plays out as if someone had opened up the Necronomicon and decided what the world needed more than anything was a black metal band made up of deadites. With that out in the open it would be wise to arm yourself for what awaits.Whenever you read the words aloud from the book of the dead things get downright twisted. This band was obviously raised on the book of the dead as much as they were extreme black metal and the music of rotted psychedelic rock stars. Find out why this one creeps me out at the link below. Be warned though this one is dark and dismal folks.
