Veteran German traditional/power metal outfit Wizard normally tread around viking type lyrics. Their latest offering is a concept album based on a trilogy of fantasy novels by German writer Andre Wiesler. So it's all beasties this time around. The music however isn't anything new for them. It's the same classic style metal they have stuck through over the years. There's some soaring melodies and a few chants thrown in. The music is overall comparable to Judas Priest, Grave Digger, Manowar, U.D.O and others. The approach is fairly basic on several songs, but anything they lack in originality they make up for with volume and sheer force. There isn't much subtle about how Wizard approach their music and I am that is intentional. That's fine by me because I can always use a dose in your face style metal. And as far as that goes Wizard know how to dish it out.
