Best hair metal albums 5-1
Here they are.
5-Twisted Sister-Stay hungry-1984
Any of their first three albums would fit here but I think this one had the greatest influence on the genre.
4-Def Leppard-Pyromania-1983
These guys started out doing NWOBHM and eventually became an AOR band. In between they knocked out this really catchy album.
3-Motley Crue-Shout at the devil-1983
Wow, what a great album. A shame they never came close to this level after this album.
2-Motley Crue-Too fast for love-1981/1982
To me this was a an 80's hair metal album that had a slight nod to 70's glam.
1-Guns and Roses-Appetite for destruction-1987
If people try to turn up their nose at all hair metal this is the first I point out as the one showed how good this style could be. Unfortunately for every band like GnR or early Motley Crue you got five bands like London, Trixter or Warrant.

Weren't Scorpion a "hair metal" band too? Or maybe I missed them on this list. Must say I'm not totally nostalgic for the 'transvestites in candy cane-striped spandex' look of the early '80s!
Enjoyed the list. I remember loving Stay Hungry but listened to it awhile back and didn't think it held up. One's I would include
Saigon Kick-S/T
Love Hate-Let's Rumble (early 90's so may be out of parameters)
Vain-Move On It-great f'n album
Whitesnake-87
Tom-The Scorps are definitely more of a metal band.
Scott-
I like Saigon Kick, Vain and Whiesnake (although I prefer Slide it in). I can't stand Love/Hate.
It's funny Mark (and feel free to disagree with me) but I've never considered G N'R to be hair metal. They were more like hard rock/heavy metal with sleeze in my mind. Bands like Poison were hair metal while Axl and company were more like a good street/bar room hard rock group. Even so in your list it is truly at the top as that album is so solid it's unreal.

Oops, it posted twice. Sorry Mark. By the vain agree about Love/Hate. I do like some Saigon Kick and Vain. Same goes for Whitesnake. Scorpians were never a hari band no matter what anyone says. I do not remember but was Great White in your list?
Can't stand Great White. Always found them to be dull.
